Suruthi Baskaran is a research volunteer with a goal to expand her knowledge in general surgery by pursuing surgical residency in the US. She completed her medical school and surgery residency in India and moved to the US in 2022. She is eager to hone her research as well as surgical skills.

Dr. Baskaran has been involved in research since medical school when she was awarded a short-term studentship fund by the Indian Council of Medical Research to conduct a study in Microbiology. She continued to perform clinical research during her surgery residency. She is currently working with Dr.Amar Nijagal on long term effects of perinatal liver injury on the hemopoietic immune cells.
